The Bookshelf: Patron Interview: Isaac Barber

Inquisitive. Engaging. Sweet. Polite. Bingo champion. These are some of the ways our staff describes Isaac Barber. He is a regular at our monthly STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities and bingo afternoons, he has made some good friends here at the library, and he sported a killer Bumblebee costume last October at our Halloween parade. I recently conducted a question and answer with Isaac that I would like to share with you.

Question: How do you use the library?

Isaac Barber: I check out books to take home and read to my pets. I also like going to weekly storytime and other events so I can read and spend time with my friends.

Q: Why is the library important to you?

Barber: Because I usually get to see my friend Chloe and because of how much fun the events are!

Q: What is your favorite book?

Barber: My favorite books are the “Magic Tree House” series by Mary Pope Osborne, and my favorite movie is “Kung Fu Panda” (the whole series, I can’t pick one!).

Q: What was the last book you recommended to a friend?

Barber: “InvestiGATORS” by John Patrick Green. (“InvestiGATORS” is a graphic novel that stars sewer-loving Mango and Brash, animals with human jobs. They use spy technology and toilet-based travel techniques to crack their cases and corral the crooks.)

Q: If you could have three authors over for dinner (living or dead), who would you invite?

Barber: Ben Clanton (“Narwhal” and “Jelly” books), Jim Benton (“Catwad” books) and Dav Pilkey (“Dog Man” books).
