Greetings readers.
Allow me to divert your attention to some free offerings, for all ages, at the Chatsworth-Murray County Public Library in February.

Each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Crystal Robbins from Open Heart Yoga & Wellness will lead one-hour chair yoga sessions. Chair yoga, a gentle form of yoga that’s done while seated or using a chair for balance, is a good, safe workout for beginners looking to improve posture, increase flexibility and improve balance while avoiding injury.
On Friday, Feb. 7, at 4 p.m., staff member Tori will lead an adult craft utilizing the library’s Cricut smart cutting machine. Participants will be able to design and customize valentine bouquets that you can then take home or give to a loved one.
And also for adults, on Friday, Feb. 21, Bev Arends will teach you how to bind a book by hand. Participants will use the Coptic stitch in this 90-minute workshop and will leave with their own bound book. Spaces are very limited, and participants must sign up beforehand with a staff member by calling (706) 695-4200.
Teens will want to be here for a Super Smash Bros. tournament on Friday, Feb. 14, at 4 p.m. Participants will choose their favorite characters on our Nintendo Switch and battle it out versus the other attendees in this counter-programming event on Valentine’s Day.
We’ll be bringing back our popular chocolate dipping bar for kids and their families on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. There will be fresh fruit, pretzels, cookies and more to dip in white or milk chocolate.
And if your young ones have aspirations to be a restaurateur, Tyler Hord, owner/operator of Little Rome, will be on-site Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. to talk about running a restaurant and how he cooks such delicious dishes.

Throughout this winter our library will maintain a mitten tree. The tree is adorned with beanies, earmuffs, scarves and, of course, mittens. Stop by and take one if you need it, or if you’d like to donate an item we’ll gladly take it.
If you are new to the area (or just haven’t been in a while) please come by the library for a free card. Cardholders can access all of our physical collection of books (including the latest movies on DVD and video games for Switch, PlayStation and Xbox), thousands of ebooks and eaudiobooks, and free passes to Zoo Atlanta. We also provide notary services, make copies, scan/fax documents and offer free Wi-Fi on the entire campus.
Our library system serves people of all ages and from varying social, educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.
Brian Latour is the branch manager of the Chatsworth-Murray County Public Library.
