Dalton High School Rifle Team comes in second in area

The Dalton High School Rifle Team has had a great season this year.

On March 8, the rifle team headed to LaFayette High School to compete in the area competition. The rifle members arrived around 3:30 p.m. and left around 7 p.m. Once they arrived, they began shooting in their prone position, then moved on to standing, and ended with kneeling.

After all the teams shot, the award ceremony began. Dalton High School placed second in the 2018-19 regular season with a 1,098 shooting average. The team also placed second in the area championship with a 1,128 shooting average.

Not only did the team place, but members also received individual awards. Amizadai Simon received an award for scoring a perfect 100 in prone and for scoring a high score of a 99 on kneeling. Truc Bui received an award for scoring a high score of 98 on standing. Selena Paniagua placed second overall with an average score of 289, receiving an award for getting a perfect 100 in prone and a 98 in kneeling. Paola Arredondo and Simon received an award for getting an average of a 279 overall and placing on the All-Area A Team.
