Area middle school roundup: Cougars seventh-grade football sprints past McCallie

Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns as Dalton Middle School’s seventh-grade football team beat McCallie 42-6 on Tuesday in Chattanooga.

Rhett Hammontree added two touchdowns, Gabe Hill had one and Bryce Houghton and Tyson Swope contributed two-point conversions.

Softball

• Dalton 6, Saddle Ridge 4: Elly Souther struck out nine and picked up the win in relief in Monday’s home win for the Cougars (2-1).

Hope Parker, who started in the circle, had four strikeouts.

Sydney Ault drove in two runs, while Zoe Dales, Lauren Parker, Natalie Quintero and Souther each had one RBI.

Volleyball

• Bagley beat Gladden 25-16, 14-25, 15-5 on Monday at North Murray High School.

Cady Wheat had a streak of 10 serves in a row and Korbin Tipton had a streak of seven for Bagley (1-1), which had 15 aces in the match.
