Creative Arts Guild presents Spring Dance Concert, Recital

The Creative Arts Guild and Ballet Dalton present the annual Spring Dance Concert on Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the Dalton High School theater. Ballet Dalton, Intermediate 3’s, Intermediate 4’s, Hip Hop Dance Crew and the Guild Dance Ensemble will perform in this annual spring event with a reception honoring the dancers to follow.

On Saturday, May 12, all dancers enrolled in the Guild’s dance program will perform in this year’s annual Spring Dance Recital at 1 and 4 p.m. in the DHS theater.

Each year’s concert and recital share a theme and feature ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, contemporary and hip-hop. This year’s theme is “Icons, Innovators and Inspiration.”

“The theme of this year’s production is one we feel so enthused by,” dance director Jessie Fincher said. “It has been so exciting and rewarding to create a performance around artists, inventors, authors, scientists and philanthropists who have not only changed our world for the better, but who continue to inspire us each day!”

Assistant dance director Paige Retchko added, “In my college art appreciation class, we learned that ‘art is an imitation of life.’ What better way to bring art to the Dalton community than create a concert representing icons, innovators and inspiring persons who have contributed to making a better world? Selecting music, themes and choreography for this project has been an especially uplifting and moving experience.”

Tickets for the Friday concert are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens; tickets for the Saturday recitals are $5. Tickets will be available for purchase through the Guild’s website, at the Guild’s facilities through the front desk, and remaining tickets will be available at the door the day of the show.
