• The Community Choir for the 22nd annual Smiley Gregg Benefit Concert has rehearsals on Thursday nights at 7 in August in the third floor music suite of Dalton First United Methodist Church. This year’s concert, “Give My Regards to Broadway,” is Sunday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. in the Dalton First United Methodist Church sanctuary. The program features music from beloved musicals including “The Sound of Music,” “Porgy and Bess,” “Carousel,” “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” All singers are invited to participate. Antioch Baptist Church’s Community Outreach Ministry offers free yard sale booths on the first Saturday of each month through September from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a service for anyone in the Antioch community to sell your items from the church parking lot. The church is at 1205 Antioch Drive.

Center Point Baptist Church celebrates Homecoming on Sunday. Worship service begins at 10:50 a.m. There will be no Sunday school. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy lunch.

• A Holy Ghost anointed revival is at Faith Deliverance Church tonight at 7. Everyone is invited. The church is at 1350 Dawnville Road.

Hill Crest Baptist Church has a gospel singing on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. with Jerry Hall and his daughter. Pastor Adam Harrison invites everyone. The church is at 1901 City View St.

Lakeside Baptist Church has vacation Bible school on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme is “Hero Central.” There will be classes, crafts, games and lunch will be provided. The church is at 1399 LaFayette Road in Rocky Face.

• Sixteen young people and six adults from Poplar Springs Baptist Church this week went to the Global Youth Ministries Retreat and Conference Center on Black Hawk Trail on top of Fort Mountain. The conference center was recently remodeled. The nonprofit establishment trains young adults in timeless youth ministry leadership principles. The camp began July 23 and ends today.

Riverbend Church of Christ opens a benevolent house each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for area residents in need. Individuals can choose from a variety of clothing, shoes, household items and more at no charge. The ministry is in the white house beside the church building at 2218 S. Riverbend Road. To donate items, drop them off during operating hours or leave them on the front porch. Tax receipts are available.

Rocky Face Baptist Church has a back to school event with free backpacks and school supplies for ages 4-18 on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 5:30 p.m. A meal starts at 5:30 for all ages. The church is at 1544 Rocky Face Railroad St.

• The Trinity United Methodist Church annual yard sale is Friday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon. All of the spring and summer items from the church’s Neighborhood Thrift Store will be on sale at reduced prices, so everyone should come for great deals. It is sponsored by the YAT Sunday school class. The church is at 901 Veterans Drive and there is ample parking at the church.

• Pastor LaTonia Liburd of the Place of Outpouring Apostolic Ministries in Covington is the guest speaker at True Gospel Pentecostal Church, 109 Henderson St. in Dalton, on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. The theme for the service is “Hold onto Jesus!” Pastor Bishop Reuben Graham Sr. and Women’s Auxiliary President Minister Glenda Graham invite the public.

Welcome Valley Baptist Church hosts revival Aug. 5-10 at 7:30 nightly and Aug. 12 at 6 p.m. Preachers are Billy Cantrell and Steve Jones. Pastor Bobby Green invites everyone.
