"Dalton In the Civil War: A 150th Anniversary Retrospective"

A group of local historians has published a hardbound book detailing Dalton and Whitfield County’s role in the Civil War. The book, “Dalton In The Civil War: A 150th Anniversary Retrospective,” is a compilation of research and articles written during the Civil War Sesquicentennial Commemoration, which was from 2011-2015.

During the four-year commemoration, local historians documented events in Dalton and Whitfield County during the Civil War. The articles were published in the Daily Citizen-News and complemented a series of educational events and activities that were developed for visitors and residents. Following the end of the Sesquicentennial in 2015, each of the 150 articles was compiled to create the book.

The books are now available for purchase at the Dalton Freight Depot at 305 S. Depot St. in downtown Dalton and the Dalton Convention & Visitors Bureau online store, squareup.com/store/dalton-convention-and-visitors-bureau. The book is $30.
