The Dalton High School JROTC Drill and Color Guard team competed in area competition at Cass High School.

Earlier this year, the Dalton High School JROTC Drill and Color Guard team headed to Cass High School to compete for the area state qualifier competition.

The cadets departed from Dalton High School at 6 a.m. and arrived at Cass High School at 7 a.m. Once they arrived, they began practicing and preparing for the three events they would be competing in.

The first event they competed in was the Male-Mix Color Guard, which was commanded by Cadet Cpl. Anahi Zavala. The next event was the Female Color Guard, which was commanded by Cadet 1st Sgt. Lorena Francisco. The last event was the Unarmed Drill Squad commanded by Cadet Cpl. Wuilio Ramirez.

“Although the teams did not place, they were proud with the improvement they have made throughout the season,” a spokesman said.
