The GreenHouse holds a forum on human trafficking on Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at Rock Bridge Community Church, 121 W. Crawford St. It is free and open to the public. Organizers say attendees will learn the facts about what human trafficking is and how best to prevent it. Any community member who is a caregiver and/or works with children will benefit from this program.

The speaker is Natima Walker, executive director of The GreenHouse.

“Human trafficking is very real and does happen in our service region of Whitfield and Murray counties,” Walker said. “We want to make sure our community has the most accurate information in terms of signs, reporting and how to assist victims. As is the case with many social problems, the portrayal of human trafficking is largely inaccurate. This program will highlight the realities of human trafficking and provide specific ways parents, teachers, churchgoers and other community members can ensure future safety for themselves and our community’s children.”
