A tornado just hit.

You may be on your own for 72 hours. What do you do?

Join the staff at Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency and learn what to do in the aftermath of a disaster at free CERT training on Saturday, Feb. 29, and Sunday, March 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

“Emergency responders do their best to respond as quickly as possible, but it is also the responsibility of individual citizens to learn how to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities,” an EMA official said. “CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is about readiness, people helping people, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number.”

CERT includes classroom and hands-on training in preparedness, fire safety, disaster, medical and triage, safety and rescue, and more.
