The Creative Arts Guild’s biennial Yart Sale will return this Friday. This much-anticipated event is a favorite for artists, art lovers and art collectors alike. A fundraiser for much-needed new gallery lighting, this event also has a mission to make owning original artwork accessible to everyone in our community. The exhibit will feature paintings, photographs, sculptures and other original work, all gently loved and ready for a new home.
Creative Arts Guild gallery director Savannah Thomas encourages interested buyers to come ready to shop, saying, “While available works will remain on display through Feb. 26, works will sell fast. Come opening night to make sure you get the piece your home or office has been missing.”

Continuing in Gallery Five20, a showcase of works by Art/Dev Chattanooga remains on display. Featuring the work of “interdisciplinary experimentalists” Kit Buckley, Alex Cruikshank, Heath Montgomery and Andrew Rodgers, this exhibit explores and encourages viewers to engage with art created through technology and new media. The playful exhibit opened in January.
The gallery and Yart Sale will open Friday with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The reception is free, and everyone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served. The Guild is also excited to announce that Art/Dev Chattanooga will host an event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gallery Five20. In the playshop, participants will collaborate and experiment together to create art (often kinetic sculpture) from an assortment of materials around a theme. ART/DEV will provide the materials and the theme, you just need to bring an open mind and a crafty attitude. The event is free, and everyone is welcome (children ages 5 and up are highly encouraged, but children under 13 must be supervised by an adult).
