Mrs. Nickie Sellers was a woman of quiet dedication to the causes in which she believed. She initiated the Holiday Tour of Homes in 1990, which is one of the Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center’s annual fundraisers. From that time until her death in September 1996, she remained the driving force behind this project.

George and Libby Haigler are the 2019 recipients of the Nickie Sellers Award. This award is given to people or groups who go above and beyond the call of duty in their work toward fulfilling the Crisis Center’s mission.

The Haiglers have been supporters and volunteers of the Crisis Center for almost 20 years. The Crisis Center’s mission is to end violence in the home by providing shelter, advocacy and support to the victims while working in the community to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. The Haiglers believe in that mission and also believe that people should give something back to their community, according to Katora Printup, Crisis Center executive director.

“The Haiglers are well deserving of this award,” Printup said.
