On a cold New Year’s Eve in 2017, three musicians met at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina. They became friends, started jamming together, creating a new trio, Stringer’s Ridge.
The band crosses musical and geographic boundaries, playing mostly instrumental tunes with diverse and eclectic influences and a focus on old-time, folk, Celtic and string band music that can veer off into other eclectic/world/ddle genres at a moment’s notice. The musicians are Tom Morley, ddle, guitar, vocals; Bryant Haynes, guitar and vocals; and Fran Morley, bodhran and miscellaneous percussion.

According to Marc T. Michael, music editor for The Pulse: “In a relatively short time, this band has rmly established itself as a beloved favorite in the local (Chattanooga area) scene, particularly among folk enthusiasts, to the point that they have become regulars on the festival circuit and secured a regular rotating gig at The Honest Pint’s Irish Saturday Night series.”
“Talented and energetic; they are ultimately entertaining!” said Michael Gray of River City Sessions, a collaboration of poets, authors, storytellers and musicians whose work is all about contemporary Southern culture, “reclaimed and unchained.”
The group will perform at the Creative Arts Guild on Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and online at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=112864. For more information, call Lisa at (706) 259-1822.
