The Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library has programs for all ages every month. We have a special program coming up in April that I really want to share with you. Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. we will host our annual Author Fest.
This event celebrates authors, artists, books and literacy. More than 39 authors and artists will be in attendance, and there will be multiple genres and books for all ages.

Plus there will be discussion panels and a kids’ corner with fun, free activities and crafts. There will be something for everyone.
Read on to see some of the programs we have in March.
Children’s programs
On Thursday, March 7, from 4 to 5 p.m., PAWS to Read: Kids can practice their reading and develop social and emotional skills during this monthly program. Stop by and visit with dogs from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs in the children’s department (1st-5th grade).
On Monday, March 11, from 4 to 5 p.m., Kids Library Lab: Spinning CD Top, art and science in one. Decorate a top and see how fast you can make it spin (1st-5th grade).
On Tuesday, March 19, at 4 p.m., Storytime: We read 2-3 stories with a craft or activity. This week’s theme is bunnies (pre-kindergarten-5th grade but all ages welcome).

On Thursday, March 21, from 4 to 5 p.m., Little Sprouts with Jennifer DesRochers: Migration Madness (1st-5th grade).
Tween and teen programs
On Saturday, March 9, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., TnT Nerf War: Grab your blasters and a pocket full of darts. Each month we play Nerf games like Capture the Flag, Battle Royale, VIP. We provide blasters and darts to those who need them (4th-12th grade).
On Tuesday, March 19, at 4:30 p.m., TnT Dungeons & Dragons: Tweens and teens join us as we embark on adventures, defeat villains and find treasure in our ongoing D&D campaign. No experience is required, and materials are provided. You can also play along with us virtually on our Teen Discord server. Email powellb@ngrl.org for an invitation (6th-12th grade).
On Tuesday, March 26, at 4:30 p.m., TnT J-Pop Club: Calligraphy: Tweens and teens are invited to our J-Pop Culture Club where we will learn about the artistry of Japanese calligraphy. All supplies provided (6th-12th grade).
Adult programs
On Thursday, March 7, at 5 p.m., DIY @ the Library: Watercolor. Create your own masterpiece with watercolor. All supplies provided (ages 19-plus).
On Thursday, March 21, at 5 p.m., Learn at the Library Cricut: Birthday Cards. Add a personal touch to a special someone’s birthday with a homemade card. All supplies provided (ages 19-plus).
Classes
On Tuesday, March 12, at 4 p.m., Beginner Spanish: Interested in becoming a student of the Spanish language? Come, practice and learn with Dalton State College Professor Brian Hibbs for a beginner-level Spanish course (ages 18-plus; Spanish translator present).
On Monday, March 18, at 5 p.m., Life Skills: Pet Spay and Neuter Education Course. Learn the importance of neutering your furry loved one. Every attendee will receive a voucher for your pet’s spay/neuter treatment. Presented by the Northwest Georgia Cat Club (ages 19-plus; presentation is bilingual).
On Tuesday, March 19, at 4 p.m., Beginner ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Course: Interested in becoming a student of the English language? Come, practice and learn with Dalton State College Professor Brian Hibbs for a beginner-level English course (ages 18-plus; Spanish translator present).
On Monday, March 25, at 5 p.m., Life Skills: Car Seat Safety. This course focuses on learning about the best car seat safety practices and local transportation resources. Presented by the Dalton Police Department (ages 19-plus; presentation is bilingual).
