Offensive looks were tough to come by Saturday, but a well-placed pass from Isael Guitierrez to Emmanuel Olusanya with 9:52 remaining in the first half was all it took to give the Dalton State soccer team a regular season ending 1-0 victory over Bethel University.

Dalton State (11-6-1, 4-4) was outshot 12-8, but the Roadrunners managed their first ever Southern States Athletic Conference road win.

“Bethel has won national championships and has big tradition,”  Dalton State Kerem Daser said in a statement. “I am so proud of the defensive effort from the whole team and it was nice to get a shutout over a talented Bethel team. Our freshman keeper Diego Gonzalas, our back four with our defensive midfielders Kiko Rodriquez and Jordan Man were rock solid.”

Daser called the winning goal “an amazing world class bicycle kick.
