Individual from DHS JROTC rifle team qualifies for state

On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Dalton High School JROTC rifle team competed at LaFayette High School. After the match was over and the scores of the individual rifle members and teams were evaluated, Dalton placed second in the rifle match with a score of 1,123.
Aside from that, one of the rifle team members received first as an individual. The rifle team congratulated Cadet Lt. Col. Amizadai Simon for qualifying for state as an individual.

In order to qualify for state, the shooter must obtain a score of 292. The scoring is based on a 300-point system, with each of the shooting positions (prone, standing and kneeling) worth 100 points.In each position, the shooter is given a certain time limit and can shoot as many times until time runs out.
Simon’s scores were:
• Prone, 98
• Standing, 94
• Kneeling, 100
Members of the DHS JROTC rifle team wish to receive more recognition and awards similar to this in the upcoming rifle matches.
