The WoodSongs Dalton 2020 concert series will kick off its tenth year with Grammy-nominated band Wild Rose on Saturday at the Wink Theatre.

The concert series features national and regional Americana music, providing the north Georgia area with family-friendly music while benefiting local nonprofits.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. with The Burchfield Family band opening. The concert will also honor the Girl Scouts of America in Northwest Georgia. Girls Scouts will be admitted to the concert free if wearing their sash or vest.

The all-woman Wild Rose was founded by the talented multi-instrumentalist Wanda Vick Burchfield, who got her start as a session player and musician for Lynn Anderson. The band is comprised of Pamela Gadd (lead and background vocals, banjo), Kathy Mac (bass guitar, vocals), Pam Perry (lead and harmony vocals, guitar, mandolin), Nancy Given Gardner (drums, vocals) and Burchfield (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, steel guitar).

The title track of their first album “Breakin’ New Ground” made it to the top 20, as did their hit “Go Down Swingin’.” The band has had appearances on “Hee Haw,” “Crook and Chase” and “Nashville Now.” Band spokesperson Perry said that “they are all excited and looking forward to performing in Dalton for their 30th anniversary celebration.”

Artists they have recorded for or toured with include Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Alabama, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sandi Patti and Vestal Goodman.

This regionally-acclaimed concert series features emerging and established performers and will be held at the Wink Theatre at 115 Crawford St. in downtown Dalton.
