23rd annual Global Impact (Missions) Celebration is Wednesday

Dalton native Chrissie Shaheen Forsman kicks off the 23rd annual Global Impact (Missions) Celebration for Dalton First Methodist Church on Wednesday. Church members and the public are invited to enjoy a free dinner in the church fellowship hall at 5 p.m. Chrissie will speak at 6.

The church is at 500 S. Thornton Ave.

Chrissie has worked for 20 years to bring the Gospel message to and achieve reconciliation between Christians and Muslims in Israel. Moving to Jerusalem in 1998 and establishing her outreach through The Tent Inc., Chrissie explained, “Our goal was to bring all of God’s people of all faiths into fellowship and reconciliation. In the fall of 2010, The Tent opened its first women’s center in east Jerusalem. We located in a private Christian school where three-quarters of the 900 students are Muslims. Their parents felt they received an education superior to that offered in the public schools. The Tent opened the Cup of Joy coffee shop. It was the only one of its kind (serving only women) in Israel.”

Regarding her visit to Dalton First, Chrissie said, “I am excited to share with everyone that The Tent is beginning a new ministry through a coffee shop at Bir Zeit University. This is a public university in Birzeit, West Bank, near Ramallah. We are also expanding our ministry to Haifa where there are many Arab and Jewish believers ready to build relationships with one another.”
