- Fifth grade ALPHA (students at Dawnville Elementary School implemented a sock drive during the month of December. The students coordinated with Sheila Reed from Harvest Outreach concerning the needs of the homeless or less fortunate people in our community. They learned that socks are the most requested item at homeless shelters, and socks are the item in shortest supply. Unlike most items in our wardrobe, we tend to wear our socks until they are beyond repair, at which point they are of no use to anyone. New socks are definitely a need as exposure to the elements can lead to infections and other health issues. The theme for the sock drive was "Warm Their Soles", and thanks to all the students at Dawnville Elementary school, 500+ pairs of socks will do just that this Winter.
