Sometimes, even home improvement stores need a makeover.

When Jevin Jensen purchased the Ace Hardware near Varnell a little over two years ago, he knew it would take hard work to transform the store into a resource the community needed and deserved. A dedicated team of local associates worked together a quickly complete a remodel, stock new inventory and most importantly participate in additional training to provide the best customer service possible.

These initiates were recently recognized when Ace Hardware Corp. announced that the renamed Jevin’s Ace Hardware has been designated as a Platinum Performance Retailing store for its “outstanding” 2019 results. Developed as part of Ace’s longterm retail growth strategy, Platinum Performance Retailing is laser-focused on Ace’s customers, helping to ensure that Ace stores deliver on their brand promise every day. Fewer than 20% of all Ace Hardware stores achieve this level.

“It is a truly commendable accomplishment for an Ace store to achieve Platinum Performance Retailing status,” said Mike Baker, district manager for the Ace Hardware Corp. “We’re pleased to recognize Jevin’s Ace Hardware and the store associates for their outstanding achievements. I work closely with the local team and the turnaround of this store is impressive.”

For 95 years, Ace Hardware has provided its neighbors with helpful service and quality products. To achieve Platinum Performance Retailing, the Jevin’s Ace Hardware team successfully completed seven performance metrics to help them provide a better overall shopping experience in their local community.

Giving back to the community through local charities and hosting in-store events like pet adoptions is just one of the metrics. Another key metric is “Helpful Certification,” the foundational element of Ace’s “Certified Ace Helpful” retail training. To become certified, Ace Hardware associates must complete courses such as Helpful 101 and 201 curriculums, and the store conducts a week-long, team-based certification event as well as compiling random third-party surveys of the store’s customers.

“We are incredibly humbled to have earned the status as a Platinum Performance store,” Jensen said. “The store looks amazing now, but this recognition is due to the helpful team of associates who provide outstanding service each day. I want to personally thank our great customers who gave us a chance to earn their business in a competitive market.”

Jensen continued, “What this certification means for our customers is that we are more committed than ever to providing our loyal shoppers the best possible experience, from service to new product offerings and more, we’re taking ‘Ace helpful’ to a new level.”

“I go there regularly for all my maintenance and repair needs,” said Glenda Wright of Dalton, a frequent customer of the store. “I know that you won’t be disappointed. This family-owned business has the most knowledgeable and helpful staff you’ll ever find.”

Jevin’s Ace Hardware snagged a second coveted award recently by being designated as an “Elite Dealer” for Stihl Outdoor Power Tools. This achievement is also based on a significant investment in training of the store’s on-site mechanics and sales people. They must complete a wide range of classes both online and in classroom. Sales levels and carrying a broad inventory of Stihl products are also part of the key metrics to obtaining the Elite Dealer honor.

“Congratulation to the team at Jevin’s Ace Hardware for achieving Elite Dealer status,” said Randell Smith, sales rep for Stihl Southeast. “The growth and service level of the team there is truly impressive.”

Jevin’s Ace Hardware is at the corner of Ga. Highway 2 and Cleveland Highway and is open seven days a week.
