Whitfield advances

The Whitfield American softball all star team of the Dixie League’s 10-U Angels division deafeated Monroe 16-3 in Perry to win the state championship. The team will travel to Sumter, S.C. on July 31 to play Tennessee in the Dixie World Series.

In the 8-U Darlings division, both Dalton (17-3) and Whitfield National West (17-12) were eliminated by Jasper County and finished tied for second place.

In the 12-U Ponytails division, Whitfield lost to Columbia County 9-1 in the championship game.

In Dixie baseball, Whitfield County’s 13-U team was eliminated by Brookwood in a 16-3 loss, but Whitfield’s 14-U team beat Crawford County 4-3. They’ll play again today at 4 in the field of 16.
