“It has been through the tireless work of our trustees and the generosity of donors that the foundation has marked the achievement of this ambitious goal in support of Hamilton Medical Center’s maternal and infant care and emergency care services renovation and expansion projects,” said Chairman Robert Smalley.
Smalley recognized former chairman Scott Sellers, who spearheaded the initial fundraising efforts in 2005, and immediate past chairman Bryan McAllister, who followed in 2007 with his leadership and continued solicitation efforts toward the goal. The campaign total of $5.074 million in gifts and pledges is a record amount raised for a capital campaign at Hamilton.
“Clearly, the generosity of our community and the good works of the foundation trustees are exceptional to have met this goal during such a weak economic climate,” said Jeff D. Myers, president and CEO of Hamilton Health Care System. “The foundation’s fundraising efforts contributed to over one-fourth of the total $20 million cost of construction, thereby defraying the medical center’s long-term borrowing costs and ensuring Hamilton remains in the forefront of health care.”
“As the foundation’s 35th anniversary was celebrated in 2010, the success of the maternal and infant care and emergency care services campaign is a sterling example of how the foundation has touched the lives of thousands of people throughout the communities served by Hamilton Medical Center,” said Gary Howard, foundation executive vice president.
