Christian Heritage alum Gray Hutchinson, a junior third baseman at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

Hutchinson, who graduated from Christian Heritage in 2009 and played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Cleveland (Tenn.) State, scored nearly a third of Lipscomb’s runs during a three-game series sweep of ASC foe Jacksonville this past weekend. He had a three-run home run in the eighth inning of Saturday’s 6-2 victory.

He finished the series 6-for-9 with six runs scored and drove in three runs, and he also led the ASC in slugging percentage (1.091) for the week while having the second-best batting average (.545) and on-base percentage (.643). He also had three doubles during the week to earn the league honor for the first time.

For the season, Hutchinson is hitting .254 with seven doubles, two home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. The Bisons were 25-26 overall and 14-10 in the ASC going into Tuesday night’s game against Tennessee Tech.
