“We’re a little bit bigger than that team,” Northwest coach Ryan Richards said. “I knew they could shoot it really well. I was challenging them to come out and play hard and not let their size bother them thinking it’s going to be easy. I think we showed a lot of maturity coming out and playing strong.”

• LaFayette 66, Coahulla Creek 60: After falling down early after a barrage of 3-pointers, Coahulla Creek fought back, but ran out of time on Tuesday night, falling to 3-6 on the season.

After being down 15-14 after the first quarter, LaFayette hit 9 of 17 3-pointers in the second half to push the lead to nine at the half. The Colts were able to limit them to just 3 of 8 shooting from deep in the second half after putting an emphasis on perimeter defense.

In the fourth quarter, senior Maddox Adams took over, scoring 12 points to help the Colts cut the lead, but the comeback fell short.

Adams finished with 21 to lead all scorers and Eli Turso finished with 10.
