Dalton adds wins at home

Dalton High picked up two more wins over cross-county rival Northwest Whitfield at Dalton on Friday.
The Catamounts outlasted the Bruins 41-33 after the Lady Catamounts pulled away in the second quarter on their way to a 59-46 win.

Boys
Both teams got the New Year off to shaggy start, shooting poorly and struggling to create offense.
Dalton blew out the Bruins in mid-December but early in the third quarter on Friday it was the Bruins who took a 21-19 lead on a three-pointer by Ken Ken Douglas.
Dalton (8-4, 5-0) responded quickly.
Cole Laubscher drilled a three-pointer to reclaim the lead. Teammate Cameron Weaver hit a field goal and Jermichael Craft scored a basket and added a free throw which put Dalton up 27-21.
The Cats led 27-22 after three quarters and kept the Bruins at a safe distance through the fourth quarter.

Craft, Kobi Cooper and C.J. Weaver each scored 10 points for Dalton. Craft had seven rebounds. Drew Snyder added six rebounds.
Northwest Whitfield’s scoring came from four players. Douglass finished with 13 points. Caden Ramsey scored nine points and added six rebounds. Abil Lyon score eight. Kyle Cummins chipped in three.
Northwest is 10-2 overall, 3-0 in region play.
Girls
It was a tight battle for a quarter.
Dalton led 13-11 at the end of the first period.
The Lady Cat defense created turnovers in the second period and that helped the offense get untracked.
DHS led 33-17 at the half.
Sophomore Aubriyana Camp played well, scoring 13 points in the first half and adding 12 more in the second. She hit the team’s only two three-pointers.
B.B. Bates finished with eight points and 10 rebounds. Jolie Wingfield scored 12 points and Wisdom Kent added 10.
On Saturday, the Lady Cats added their 11th win of the season, beating Northview, 66-56. (No stats available.)
For Northwest, Miah Triana led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Kennedy Baker scored 12, all in the second half. Lindsey Harris had nine points.
The Lady Bruins rebounded on Saturday with a 76-29 win over Ridgeland. No stats available.

Boys
Christian Heritage added a pair of impressive wins over the weekend, beating Armuchee 75-31 and Washington, 71-56.
The Lions are 10-2 overall, 3-2 in the region.
Coahulla Creek beat North Murray 72-58 on Friday and lost to Pickens County (78-39) on Saturday.
The Colts are 11-3 (5-1).
Southeast Whitfield lost to North Murray on Saturday.
North Murray fell to Coahulla Creek on Friday but bounced back to pound Southeast (0-12) on Saturday.
The Mountaineers are 5-6, 1-4.
The Murray County boys (3-9, 3-3) will play their first post-holiday game on Tuesday against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.
Girls
North Murray (4-9, 0-5) took a tough loss (62-19) to Coahulla Creek on Friday, then beat Southeast, 45-39, on Saturday. That defeat dropped the Lady Raiders to 2-7, 1-4.
The Lady Lions of Christian Heritage (10-2, 3-2) fell to Armuchee 56-46 on Friday but came back strong on Saturday with a 69-52 win over Washington.
Coahulla Creek added a win over North Murray and a 43-33 loss to Pickens County.
Murray County’s Lady Indians (13-0, 7-0) will host LFO on Tuesday.
