Colts finish sweep of sub-region

BOYS BASKETBALL
• Coahulla Creek 47, Ringgold 42: Technically, the Colts wrapped up the Region 6-3A North Division title Monday when North Murray beat Ringgold. But Tuesday’s win over the Tigers cemented Coahulla Creek as the sub-region’s top team, closing out a clean sweep of all four North foes with the win.

Coahulla Creek trailed by two after the first quarter but jumped up a basket at halftime.
Tyler Phillips lead Coahulla Creek (17-6 overall) with 24 points. He added 11 rebounds, six blocked shots and four assists. Trent Collins was the Colts’ next top scorer with seven points. Darius Smith grabbed 12 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end.
• Murray County 50, Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe 35: Adrian Winters’ double-double led a balanced effort for the Indians. Winters finished with 14 points while pulling down 11 rebounds. Aaron Beavers chipped in 11 points and Cade Vice scored nine.
Braden Weaver added 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
• Pickens 69, Southeast Whitfield 50: The Raiders (9-14, 4-7 Region 6-4A) fell on the road. Southeast led at the end of the first quarter and trailed by just five going into the fourth, but a big last period from the Dragons allowed them to pull away for the victory.
Christian Antillion led Southeast with 12 points while Luke Johns and Jacob Wyatt each added seven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
• Christian Heritage 65, North Cobb Christian 31: The Lady Lions picked up a blowout win in Region 6-A play behind four players scoring in double figures. Meghan Schneller led the pack with 17 points. She added seven rebounds and four assists. Ashlyn Cements chipped in 16 points and six rebounds, Kelsey Schneller had 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals, and Olivia Idom added 11 points.
• Pickens 57, Southeast Whitfield 51: The Lady Raiders fell to 16-7 overall and 7-4 in Region 6-4A with the loss on the road. Maddie Pearson paced Southeast with 17 points, five assists and four steals.
Sidney Swantic added 10 points and seven rebounds, Sarah Sullivan had eight points and 15 rebounds, and Jennifer Flores had seven rebounds.
• Ringgold 42, Coahulla Creek 40: The Lady Colts (4-18, 2-11 Region 6-3A) nearly upset the top seed in the North sub-region behind 22 points from Lily Snyder. Allie Young had 11 rebounds.
JV GIRLS BASKETBALL
• Northwest Whitfield 54, Gilmer 37: The Lady Bruins closed a perfect 13-0 season with a win at home. This is the third consecutive undefeated season for Northwest’s girls junior varsity team.
Tiona Baker led the Lady Bruins with 12 points, Mikayla Ehlers had eight and Kate Burton added seven.
