Dalton High School’s baseball team continued to flex its muscle with a 15-2 victory over Cass in five innings on Wednesday. The Catamounts improved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in sub-region 7A-5A with their fifth consecutive victory.

“We’re playing really good baseball right now,” Dalton coach Rhett Parrott said. “We have a very a good approach at the plate and are pitching well and playing solid defense.”

Thomas Wright was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, his second of the year, and JP Tighe was 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Cats. Harrison Norman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Sam Stepp was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Vinny Vega was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs as well.

Brock Nelson got the complete game win, allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout on just 52 pitches.

Wright is now the fourth Dalton player with multiple home runs this season, with Nelson, Norman and Shelton having already accomplished that feat. Parrott said that the power surge from his team wasn’t necessarily expected, but that he is happy with the way it has come.
