The buzz this week isn’t about people or places, but pollinators.
Continuing through Saturday, Pollinator Week highlights the crucial role bees, butterflies and other pollinators play in helping produce the majority of the nation’s flowering plants and a third of food crops. Check www.pollinator.org/pollinator_week_2008.htm for details.
Also, weather permitting, the first of 14 annual butterfly counts across the state are scheduled Friday at Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge near Forsyth and Saturday at Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia. Find out more online from the North American Butterfly Association (www.naba.org/counts.html).
