Chattooga struck quickly Friday, and visiting Murray County never had a chance to catch up in the team’s Region 7-2A matchup.

Chattooga scored on the first offensive play of the game, the first play of its second possession and the second play of its next possession, racing to a three-touchdown lead in the first quarter and winning 41-7 for its first overall and region win under first-year coach Clay Livingstone.

Racking up 427 rushing yards on 31 attempts, Chattooga (1-4, 1-1) ran past Murray County (0-5, 0-2), which was held to less than 70 total offensive yards.

Quarterback Nigel Dickerson led Chattooga’s rushing attack with 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while running back Ronell Sims added a pair of scores and 137 yards on the ground.

Murray County trailed 34-7 at halftime, getting its only score on a 6-yard run by quarterback Brady Todd with 8:21 to play in the second quarter. The scoring drive’s big play was a 31-yard pass from Todd, under pressure, to Miguel Barajas, who kicked the extra point.

In the second half, Murray County had just 13 total yards and no first downs.
