Lady Lions, Colts get wins on the road

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Christian Heritage 50, Bowdon 45: The Lady Lions picked up a big Region 6-A win on the road. Meghan Schneller led Christian Heritage (7-4, 2-1) with 17 points while Kelsey Schneller had an all-around great night with 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Madison Brown chipped in 11 points and coach Maggie Peeples praised the defensive effort of Pressley Poag shutting down Bowdon’s top scorer, Maci Holloway, in the fourth quarter.

Coahulla Creek 48, LaFayette 18: The Lady Colts went on the road and came back with a non-region victory. In what coach Jody Bacchus called “a true team effort,” Mallory Poe led the team with eight points.

“We played with more purpose tonight and with a lot more confidence,” Bacchus said.

BOYS BASKETBALL

LaFayette 54, Coahulla Creek 47: After a start that coach Matt Legg called “anemic” on the offensive end, the Colts had to dig out of a hole against the Ramblers on the road. They were down 13 early in the fourth quarter but battled back, getting as close as five, but couldn’t draw any closer.

Tyler Phillips led the Colts (10-6) with 17 points. Maddox Adams added 14.

Christian Heritage 64, Bowdon 51: Christian Koneman’s double-double led the Lions to a Region 6-A win on the road. Koneman scored 18 while pulling in 15 rebounds. He also blocked four shots.

Also for Christian Heritage (6-6, 2-1), Sam Dindoffer was 4 for 4 on 3-point tries and finished with 15 points. Tristian Blackwell chipped in 13 points.
