High school tennis roundup: Murray County gets best of cross-town rivals

GIRLS TENNIS
• Murray County 5, North Murray 0: While sweeping their county rivals in a non-region meeting, the Indians singles players lost only one game combined over the three matches. Meredith Page and Jordan Gravely won their matches 6-0, 6-0 while Morgan Bostic won 6-1, 6-0. The No. 1 doubles team of Jaden Davis and Makamie Garland posted a 6-4, 6-1 win while the No. 2 team of Alyssa Jones and Mikayla Felton won 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

• Dalton 3, Sequoyah 2: The Lady Catamounts swept doubles play and added a singles win from Erin Nelson (6-4, 7-5) to score a Region 6-6A win. The team of Mary Turner Renz and Olivia Tidwell won their match 6-4, 6-1 while Caroline Coleman and Surbhi Bhatter won 6-0, 6-0.
• Coahulla Creek 4, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 1: The Lady Colts improved to 3-1, 2-1 in Region 6-3A. They swept doubles play as Lilli Ownby and Kelsey Bates won 6-1, 6-0 and Melodie Strett and Allie Saylors won 6-0, 6-0.
Kathryn Barker won at first singles 6-0, 6-0 while Evy Mulkey took the No. 3 match 6-0, 6-0.
• Northwest Whitfield 3, LaFayette 2: The Lady Bruins (2-0, 2-0 Region 6-4A) swept the three singles points for the win. Ella Spitler won 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 at No. 1, Sruthi Gireeshkumar won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2 and Isha Mittal won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.

• Murray County 4, North Murray 1: Both Indian doubles teams needed three sets, but both came away with wins. Two more singles wins sealed the win for Murray County. John Reed and Logan Harrison won their match 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 while Nick Ridley and Sawyer Miller won 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
At first singles, Jacob Quast won 6-3, 6-0, and Tucker Hemphill won at No. 2 6-2, 6-2. The Indians improve to 2-1 on the season. The match was not counted as a region match.
Winners for North Murray were not submitted to The Daily Citizen.
• Coahulla Creek 5, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 0: In scoring the sweep, the Colts got singles wins from Bo Sheppard (6-0, 6-0), Steven Ray Janke (6-1, 6-0) and Ethan Amos (6-2, 6-0).
In doubles play, James Culbertson and Thomas Satterfield won 6-3, 6-1. Jacob Tate and Sam Wilson won 6-1, 6-2.
Coahulla Creek improves to 2-2, 1-2 in Region 6-3A.
• LaFayette 4, Northwest Whitfield 1: Andrew Bridges picked up the only win for the Bruins (0-2, 0-2 Region 6-4A), winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
• Sequoyah 3, Dalton 2: Dalton fell at home in a Region 6-6A match. Picking up wins for the Cats were Wyatt Cushman (7-5, 6-3) and the doubles team of Marshall Phillips and Ethan Ware (6-4, 6-2).
