High School Roundup: Murray County scores 12 in win over Fannin County

SOFTBALL

Murray County 12, Fannin County 3: Murray County scored 12 runs in five innings to beat Fannin County by run rule.

For Murray County, Kacie Ausmus had one hit and three RBIs. Allison Weaver went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Ausmus also pitched five innings with four strikeouts.

Christian Heritage 6, Gordon Central 0: The Lady Lions rebounded from a split doubleheader against Southeast Whitfield on Saturday with a win Monday to move to 5-4.

For Christian Heritage, Mackenzie Hoffman went 2 for 4 with two stolen bases. Sierra Dixon doubled for an RBI and Ellie McDonald added a two-RBI double on an 0-2 pitch. Macy Smith pitched a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts.

VOLLEYBALL

• Christian Heritage lost a 3-of-5 match to Boyd Buchanan of Chattanooga, 25-17, 25-16, 25-9.

For Christian Heritage, Gracie Hill had four kills and seven digs. Makenna Richards had two kills and a block.

JV FOOTBALL

Southeast Whitfield 20, Northwest Whitfield 14: The Raiders beat the Bruins thanks to two touchdown connections from Adam Sowder to receiver Andy Kirby, one for 15 yards and another for 55 yards. Later in the game, Sowder scored on a 3-yard run, with A.J. Miller running in the 2-point conversion. On defense, Brett Buckner had two interceptions.

FRESHMAN FOOTBALL

Northwest Whitfield 48, Southeast Whitfield 6: Six different players scored for Northwest in its rout of Southeast, moving them to 1-1.

Jordan McCammish scored a rushing and receiving touchdown, the latter one of Mathew Redmond’s two passing touchdowns. Chase Gentry, Andy Menendez scored a combined three rushing touchdowns and Damien Serif caught a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Ryan Womack also caught a touchdown. Jair Zapata and Jacob Dockery combined for three forced turnovers.
