High School Roundup: Raiders beat Lions, Indians top Gilmer

BASEBALL
• Southeast Whitfield 10, Christian Heritage 1: The Raiders (4-2) scored their 10 runs on just nine hits in a home win over the Lions (1-4).

With the game tied at 1 after the first three innings, the Raiders piled on nine runs in the final three innings. Christian Heritage scored in the first inning on a wild pitch and Southeast answered in the second with an error at first base allowing Roberto Pintor to score.
The Raiders scored on a Zach Cobb single and a Will Harvey double in the fourth inning to push the score to 3-0. In the next inning, Omar Chavarria drove in two on a ground-ball single to center field. Two at bats later, the Raiders scored again on an RBI-single to third base by Cobb to make it 7-1.
Chavarria came up big again in the sixth inning with a two-RBI triple. He finished with four RBIs on two hits. The final run came on an error allowing Chavarria to score. Cobb also added two hits and two RBIs.
Javier Favela got the win with 11 strikeouts and no earned runs in six innings pitched. Lions pitcher Syd Reece gave up five earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
• Murray County 5, Gilmer 4: The Indians (2-5) got two runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge the Bobcats (1-7) on the road Monday.
Josh Cain hit a single to center field with two outs with Logan Palmer and Cade Vice scoring on an errant throw to first to give Murray County a late lead. Cain also got the win after pitching two innings with no earned runs on one hit with four strikeouts.

The Indians had just three hits in the win. Justin Goswick, Corbin Southern and Logan Waters drove in the Indians’ other three runs.
GIRLS TENNIS
• Christian Heritage 3, Sonoraville 2: The Lady Lions took a home match against the Lady Phoenix to move to 4-1 on the season.
Katherine Paige won her singles match 7-5, 6-1 while the Lady Lions scored two doubles points in wins from Marlee Ellis and Sydney McEntire, who won 6-1, 6-1 as well as Jade Smith and Josie Taylor, who won 6-3, 6-2.
• Murray County 3, Fannin County 2: The Murray County girls tennis team got its first win of the season in a match against Fannin County, moving to 1-2.
Meredith Page got the only singles point with a 6-0, 6-0 win. In doubles, Jayden Davis and Makamie Garland won 6-2, 6-0 and Attie Ridley and Jordan Swanson won 6-0, 6-0.
BOYS TENNIS
• Sonoraville 4, Christian Heritage 1: The Lions dropped a home match with Sonoraville to fall to 1-4 on the season.
The lone point for the Lions came in a doubles match, which Brett Delozier and Will Duddleston won 6-7, 6-4, 10-4.
• Fannin County 3, Murray County 2: The Indians dropped to 1-2 this season after a loss to Fannin County.
Both of the Indians’ points came in doubles matches. Logan Harrison and John Reed won 6-2, 6-1 and Tucker Dailey and Sawyer Miller won 6-2, 6-4.
JV GIRLS SOCCER
• Northwest 1, Coahulla Creek 0: The junior varsity Lady Bruins edged the Lady Colts to move to 2-0-1. Northwest’s goal was scored by Valeria Toscano and assisted by Ashley Cabrera.
