High school volleyball: Southeast defeats Northwest; Dalton’s win streak stops, but Lady Cats rally for region win

Dalton splits tri-match

A seven-game win streak for Dalton (26-6) came to an end with a loss to East Hamilton (22-8) Tuesday night, but the Lady Cats rallied to get a Region 7-5A win over Cartersville (20-10).

East Hamilton shut down Dalton 25-12 and 25-19 before the Lady Catamounts rebounded to defeat Cartersville 2-0.

Dalton hosts Gilmer and North Murray for a tri-match on Thursday.

Southeast shuts down Northwest

Southeast Whitfield took down Northwest Whitfield in two sets Tuesday night during a tri-match at Sonoraville.

Southeast defeated Northwest 26-24 and 25-20 before falling to Sonoraville 25-18 and 25-13.

On the night for Southeast, Yaretzi Hernandez put up 29 assists and 14 digs. Trinity Burse had 24 digs and 12 kills, while Kaylee Wright had 13 digs and six aces.

Calhoun 2, Christian Heritage 0

Christian Heritage (10-9) fell in two sets to Calhoun (20-6) at home Monday.

Calhoun took the first set 25-18, then secured the match with a 25-17 victory in the second.

Mia Hill had 11 assists and six digs, and Kate Regal had six digs. Taylor Hare had four kills.

Christian Heritage hosts Chattooga Thursday at 7 p.m.

Coahulla Creek drops both in tri-match

Coahulla Creek (13-13) dropped both games of a Region 6-3A tri-match Tuesday, falling in two sets to both Bremen (16-4-1) and Gordon Lee (25-9).

In the first set against Bremen, Creek battled but fell 26-24. Bremen took the second 25-20.

Creek fell in two narrow sets against Gordon Lee. Gordon Lee won the first 25-22 and the second 25-23.

The Lady Colts next play in a tri-match at Adairsville on Tuesday.

North Murray falls in two matches of tri-match

North Murray (3-9) fell to both Model (21-9) and Armuchee (19-9) in a tri-match at Model Tuesday.

Model defeated North Murray 25-13 and 25-19.

Against Armuchee, North Murray battled the first set to a 25-20 loss, but Armuchee easily pulled away for a 25-4 victory to seal the game.

The Lady Mountaineers play in a tri-match at Dalton Thursday.
