Curtis no-hits Northwest as Creek wins trio of games

A no-hitter by Haley Curtis in a 6-0 win over Northwest highlighted a trio of wins in a trio of games for Coahulla Creek as part of a tournament at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park.

Curtis’ no-hitter capped of Creek’s weekend with the 6-0 win over Northwest Saturday. The Lady Colts beat Southeast Whitfield 13-0 earlier Saturday and knocked off Ridgeland 6-5 Friday.

In the win over Ridgeland, Nora Milam tripled while Caroline Reed, Annie Reed and Larkin Woods doubled. Caroline Reed finished with two RBIs.

Creek shut down Southeast 13-0 in a game that ended after four innings. Woods homered and totaled four RBIs, and Bailey Warnix and Kayden Stuckey doubled. Woods and Shelly Johnson combined to allow just two hits of Southeast.

Curtis held Northwest without a hit and struck out four in the five-inning win over Northwest.

At the plate, Annie Reed went 3-for-3 wit three RBIs. Ally Franks drove in two runs, and Nora Milam brought in the other.

Christian Heritage wins both in weekend doubleheader

Christian Heritage traveled to Rome Saturday and notched a pair of wins, knocking off Rome 13-8 and Model 21-12.

Against Rome, Christian Heritage got out to an 8-0 lead by the third, but Rome cut the score to 8-6 midway through the fifth. The Lady Lions responded with five runs in the fifth to take control.

Kaymin Arrants went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles. Kate Mireles and Ariana Battle both had a double and three RBIs on two hits. Ava Parkinson had a triple and two RBIs, while Yardin Koop also drove in a pair of runs.

Charlize Brown pitched for five innings for Christian Heritage, tossing 10 strikeouts.

Against Model, a 10-run second inning helped lead the Lady Lions to the win in a high-scoring game.

Battle peppered two homers and finished with six total RBIs on 6-for-6 hitting, while Mireles had two doubles and five RBIs. Parkinson had two RBIs, and Jacie Benton doubled.

Murray sweeps a pair at Dalton tournament

Murray County swept a pair of games at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park on Friday to get to 5-1 on the year.

Murray beat Chattooga 5-2 then took down Northwest Whitfield 15-4.

Against Chattooga, Kholee Fouts drove in three runs while going 2-for-2. Lanie Spence and Brayleigh Amos each sent in a run.

Emerie Bohannon was the winning pitcher, striking out four.

After the second inning against Northwest ended with Murray leading Northwest 5-3, the Lady Indians piled on nine runs in the third to pull away.

Charlsey Richards doubled and piled up four RBIs. Blakelee Ledford went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Branlyn Fouts drove in two runs.

Alyssa Barnett got the win from the mound, pitching all five innings and striking out one.

Dalton drops to Ridgeland in Dalton tourney

Dalton fell 10-2 to Ridgeland Friday in its lone game in a tournament at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park.

After falling behind 3-0, Dalton rallied to make it 3-2 before Ridgeland scored seven straight for the win.

Dalton was held to two hits. Zoe Parker and Halo Thomas tallied the hits, while Ella Hill and Zoey Martinez both picked up an RBI.

North Murray wins one, drops two at Dalton tournament

North Murray went 1-2 in a trio of games played Saturday at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park.

North Murray started the day with a 6-4 win over Pepperell, but fell 12-0 to Ridgeland and 3-2 to Johns Creek.

Kirsten Hayes and Kaitlyn Malone both had two hits and one RBI apiece in the win over Pepperell. Jazmyn Wright and Jaylen Jones also drove in runs, while Wright got the win from the mound by striking out five batters in four innings.

North Murray was held hitless by Ridgeland in the shutout loss.

North Murray fell one run shy of Johns Creek when it tried to rally with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Cadence Mulkey went 2-for-2, and Wright had an RBI.

Northwest drops three in weekend action

Northwest Whitfield lost three games at a tournament at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park over the weekend.

Northwest fell 15-4 to Murray County on Friday, 6-0 to Coahulla Creek on Saturday and 11-1 to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Saturday.

Against Murray, Jolie Albertson homered and Maggie Brooker went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

After being no-hit by Coahulla, Northwest’s bats didn’t fare any better in the 11-1 loss against Ridgeland, as the Lady Bruins were also held without a hit. A wild pitch helped the Bruins score their lone run.

Southeast falls to Dade, Coahulla in tournament

Southeast Whitfield dropped a pair of games in a tournament at Dalton’s Heritage Point Park, falling 14-3 to Dade County Friday and 13-0 to Coahulla Creek Saturday.

Despite the loss to Dade, Michaela Pendley went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Allie Azurdia doubled to bring in a run. Rylee Shuler also had an RBI.

Shuler and Chyann Blevins tallied the lone two hits from the loss to Creek.
