Selections for the hall of fame will be made based on contributions to Dalton’s athletics program, honors and awards, level of competition, length of affiliation, records, leadership, community involvement and citizenship or sportsmanship.
To be eligible for the hall of fame, an athlete must have been a former student of either Dalton High School of the Emery Street School and must have graduated at least 10 years prior to nomination. So someone like former Dalton football standout Jahmyr Gibbs, the current NFL running back who graduated in 2020 from Dalton, will have to wait until 2030 before being nominated for the hall of fame.
A coach or administrator is eligible if they are retired and served Dalton High for at least five years, and community contributors may be nominated at any time.
Nominations are made by submitting an online form, which can be found on the Dalton Public Schools website, and then by mailing a letter and hard copies of all supporting information to Ryan Richards, DHS HOF, 1500 Manly Street, Dalton, GA, 30721.
Future classes to the hall of fame will be inducted during a banquet and recognized during the final home football game for Dalton High each season. A dedicated website is set to be launched to serve as a “virtual hall of fame.”
