Dalton downs Creek, Northwest during tri-match; Lady Colts beat Lady Bruins
During a tri-match between a trio of Whitfield County teams at Dalton High Thursday night, the hosts swept Coahulla Creek and Northwest Whitfield, while Coahulla picked up a win over Northwest.

The first match of the night was a hard-fought, three set match between Creek and Dalton.
Coahulla Creek came out strong and defeated Dalton 25-18 in the first set, but Dalton took the second 25-21. Dalton edged the Lady Colts 15-12 in the tiebreaking third set.
For the Lady Colts, Alyce Norton had 13 digs and 11 kills in the match, while Jelleny Mallozzi had 14 assists, 13 digs and six kills. Abigail Triplett had six digs and an ace, and Jenna Hamlin had a block, three digs and to kills.
In the second match, Dalton got a break while Coahulla took on Northwest.
The Lady Colts beat Northwest in two sets, winning by identical scores of 25-16 and 25-16.
Katie Hambright tallied 11 assists, a dig and an ace for Creek, while Elizabeth Snow added six kills and five digs. Natalie Snow had four digs and two aces.

Dalton finished the night by taking down Northwest in two sets.
Dalton opened the first set with seven straight points, but Northwest battled back to cut Dalton’s lead to as little as one at 19-18.
But, the Lady Catamounts finished strong to take the first set, then continued to play well in the second.
Dalton’s Sabrina Ledesma helped tally the clinching point, when her hit was blocked by Northwest, but the ball toppled out of play.
Dalton, which is now 9-6, plays Hiram and Cedartown on Thursday. Coahulla Creek, which is 10-5 after winning one and losing one Thursday, plays Murray County and LFO on Sept. 10. Northwest, which fell to 4-4, is at Calhoun for a tri-match with Calhoun and LaFayette on Thursday.
Chrisitian Heritage knocks off Dalton Academy
Christian Heritage defeated Dalton Academy 2-0 Thursday night, beating the Lady Pumas by scores of 25-12 and 25-15.
For Christian Heritage, Kate Regal tallied nine aces and nine digs. Jadyn Horne had 10 assists and three digs, while Addie Corner had six kills. Jolie Reynolds had seven digs and Kristen Michmerhuizen had four kills and a block.
For Dalton Academy, Berenice Campos had seven digs, four assists and an ace. Haley Marquez had four digs, three kills and three assists, while Rosa Ramon had five digs, one kill and an ace. Isabella Quiñones had two kills.
Dalton Academy (0-9) plays Rome on Thursday, while Christian Heritage (7-5) plays Ringgold and Oakwood Christian Tuesday.
Southeast beats Ridgeland, falls to LFO
Southeast Whitfield split a Thursday tri-match, defeating Ridgeland in two sets and falling to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in three.
Against LFO, Southeast won the first set 25-23, but a 25-20 loss in the second forced a decisive third, which LFO took 15-7.
Southeast cruised to a 25-11 first set victory against Ridgeland and won 25-20 in the second.
On the night for Southeast, Emily Vargas tallied 22 kills, 16 digs and seven aces. Yaretzi Hernandez had 20 assists and 11 digs, while Dareen Mughrabi had 15 digs.
Southeast (4-14) plays Woodland on Thursday.
