Southeast rips Woodland in region match

Southeast Whitfield took care of Woodland 2-0 at a Region 7-4A match Thursday, beating the visitors 25-5 and 25-13.

Yaretzi Hernandez had seven aces, seven assists and four kills for the Lady Raiders, and Emily Vargas had seven kills, seven digs and six assists. Abby Towe had four aces and three kills.

Southeast plays Dalton and Cass for another pair of region matches on Tuesday.

Dalton sweeps Hiram, Cedartown at region tri-match

Dalton defeated both Hiram and Cedartown at an Region 7-4A tri-match Thursday.

Dalton downed Hiram in two sets, 25-15 and 25-12, before beating Cedartown in two, 25-16 and 25-16.

Dalton plays Sonoraville and Heritage Saturday.

Dalton Academy drops to Rome, Trion

The Dalton Academy fell to both Rome and Trion during a Thursday tri-match.

Trion won 2-0, winning the sets 25-11 and 25-16. Berenice Campos had four digs and a pair of assists, Rosa Roman had two kills and an ace, while Seidy Lugo had two kills and a dig. Haley Marquez had two aces and two assists.

Rome beat TDA in two, 25-13 and 25-4.

Campos had four digs and four aces, and Christan Santiago had three digs.

Dalton Academy plays Armuchee and Ridgeland on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.

Christian Heritage falls in two Thursday matches

Christian Heritage dropped a pair of matches Thursday, losing 2-0 to both Armuchee and Fannin County.

Armuchee knocked off the Lady Lions 25-15 and 25-16, and Fannin won 25-16 and 25-14.

Christian Heritage will get another shot at Fannin Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Northwest swept by Calhoun, LaFayette

Northwest Whitfield was downed 2-0 by both Calhoun and LaFayette Thursday.

Northwest fell 25-16 and 25-13 to Calhoun and 25-17 and 25-18 to LaFayette.

The Lady Bruins play in a tournament at Gordon Lee High School on Saturday.
