High school softball roundup: Dalton doubles up Woodland, Creek rolls over North Cobb Christian

Dalton 12, Woodland 6

Dalton (4-9) doubled up Woodland (3-9) 12-6 on Thursday.

Dalton started strong with five runs in the first and added five runs over the last two innings to pull away from Woodland.

Ella Hill finished 4-for-5 on the day for Dalton, while Claire Miller, Kailyn Anderson and Nayeli Olvera each had a pair of RBIs. Olvera doubled.

Dalton plays Southeast Whitfield on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Coahulla Creek 10, North Cobb Christian 1

Coahulla Creek (10-3) came alive in the fourth to earn a Region 7-2A win over North Cobb Christian (6-8) 10-1 on Thursday.

Creek trailed 1-0 after four innings, but poured in eight runs in the fourth and added another two in the fifth.

Caroline Reed went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, a pair of walks and three RBIs. Kayden Stuckey doubled.

Haley Curtis struck out 10 while allowing just the one run from North Cobb Christian.

The Lady Colts play Saturday at noon against Darlington.

Dade County 21, Christian Heritage 0

Christian Heritage (4-6) was blanked by Dade County (12-4) 21-0 Thursday.

Dade piled on with 12 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.

Christian Heritage was held to two hits, but Charlize Brown doubled. Kaymin Arrants also got on board with a single.

Christian Heritage plays a doubleheader at St. Francis Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.

Ringgold 9, Northwest Whitfield 4

Northwest Whitfield (4-12) dropped 9-4 to Ringgold (3-10) on Wednesday.

After falling behind 8-0, Northwest outscored Ringgold 4-1 the rest of the way but couldn’t catch up.

Maggie Brooker, Sloan Pender, Lindsey Harris and Brylee Farmer each had an RBI, and McKenna Mulkey doubled.

Northwest plays LaFayette Monday at 5:55 p.m.

Cartersville 9, Southeast Whitfield 0

Southeast Whitfield (0-14) dropped 9-0 to Cartersville (13-3) on Thursday.

The Lady Raiders were held to two hits, one off the bat of Avery Skyles and another from Destiney Kenemore.

Southeast plays at Dalton Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Union County 3, Murray County 0

Murray County (7-6) was defeated 3-0 by Union County (9-8) on Thursday.

Union scored all three of its runs in the third.

Branlyn Fouts got the lone hit of the evening for Murray, a single that broke up the potential no-hitter.

Murray hosts Woodland Saturday at noon.

Sonoraville 11, North Murray 0

North Murray (5-12) was shut out 11-0 by Sonoraville (12-5) Thursday.

A Kaitlyn Malone hit was the lone hit of the game for North Murray.

The Lady Mountaineers host Ringgold on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
