Union County pulls away from Murray County 49-6

After Murray County fell into a 14-0 hole at Union County Friday night, a Jagger Reed rushing touchdown cut the deficit to 14-6.
With the Indians looking to cut the score even more, it instead went the other way.

Union County rattled off 35 unanswered points to down Murray County 49-6 Friday in Blairsville.
Murray County (1-3, 0-2 Region 7-2A), which played its first three games at home, was on the road for the first time Friday. Union County (1-2, 1-0 Region 7-2A) used its home field advantage and earned its first win of the season in its Region 7-2A opener. Murray is now 0-2 in the region.
Union County led 14-0 after a quarter.
After Reed’s touchdown run in the second, the Panthers scored another pair of touchdowns and led 28-6 at halftime.
It was the first matchup between Union County and Murray County despite Murray playing football since 1950 and Union County since 1957.
Murray County returns home next Friday to play rival North Murray. It will be the 11th meeting between the two schools, and the Indians are still looking for their first win in the series.
