The Dalton State College women’s soccer team remained unbeaten on the year with a 4-1 Tuesday win over Southern Union State.

The Lady Roadrunners are now 3-0-1 to start the year, with a 1-1 tie with Sewanee the only non-victory so far.

Emma Johnson scored two goals to lead Dalton State, including a seal-breaking shot just three minutes into the contest.

The 1-0 lead held for nearly the entire first half, but, after the early-half goal, Dalton State netted one late in the half too, as an Emma Chason goal in the 43rd minute put the Lady Roadrunners up 2-0 at halftime.

Southern Union State got on the board in the second half, but Johnson sent in her second goal in the 55th minute and Molly Duncan capped DSC’s scoring with the fourth goal of the game, which came in the 78th.

The unbeaten streak to start the season is the best since Dalton State went 4-0-0 to start the 2018 season.

Dalton State will try to keep the wins rolling with a Sunday home game against Agnes Scott at 6 p.m.
