North Murray 40, Coahulla Creek 15

North Murray (6-3, 5-2 Region 7-2A) picked up a win over Coahulla Creek (1-8, 1-6 Region 7-2A) at home Friday.

North Murray quarterback Hudson Hulett was 7-for-11 with 132 passing yards and 219 rushing yards.

Half of the Mountaineers’ six touchdowns came from running back Layten Myers, with Hulett rushing for two touchdowns and Jacob Daley scoring an additional six points.

Coahulla Creek quarterback Waelyn Baliles was 9-for-16 with 170 passing yards and one passing touchdown to Tyler Douglas. Douglas also had a rushing touchdown.

Douglas tied Chevy Joyce with six tackles.

North Murray will again host a region foe this Friday when Rockmart travels to Chatsworth for a 7:30 p.m. game. Coahulla Creek travels to Ringgold High School to battle the Tigers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. 

Northwest Whitfield 47, Ridgeland 28

Northwest Whitfield (8-2, 4-2 Region 7-3A) continued its winning ways Friday night, toppling Ridgeland (1-8, 1-4 Region 7-3A) in Rossville.

Following a 28-14 halftime lead against Ridgeland thanks to a 90-yard Evan Jones kickoff return and an 80-yard Kyle Cummings punt return, Northwest sealed the win following a Lucas Amos interception and 30-yard run into the end zone late in the fourth quarter to end the Bruins’ regular season with an emphatic victory.

Also heavily contributing to Northwest’s win were Corbin Bates, Caden Ramsey, Cameron Collins and quarterback Gavin Nuckolls.

Nuckolls was 5-for-5 with 19 passing yards and 79 rushing yards. Ramsey had 14 carries for 80 yards.

Scoring for Ridgeland were Ja’darius Hinton, Jayden Lambert and Bryson Donald, who had two rushing touchdowns.

Freshman Panthers quarterback Kaiden Williams finished 16-for-27 with 229 passing yards. 

The Bruins now wait for their final power rating to determine who they will most likely host in the first round of the playoffs, while Ridgeland will close out its regular season this Friday against Gilmer.

Southeast Whitfield 7, Towns County 3

Southeast Whitfield (1-7, 0-1 Region 7-4A) kept Towns County (5-4) to a single field goal to gain its first win Friday night in Hiawassee.

Southeast’s Alberto Rios picked up the lone score for the Raiders with a 5-yard rushing touchdown before a successful Julian Villa point after.

Sophomore quarterback Alex Ramirez was 1-for-6 with 14 passing yards and 33 rushing yards.

The Raiders have one more game in the regular season. They will travel to Chattanooga to take on Grace Baptist Academy in non-region play this Friday at 7 p.m.

Rockmart 72, Murray County 0

Murray County (1-8, 0-7 Region 7-2A) felt the sting of Rockmart’s Yellowjackets (7-2, 7-0 Region 7-2A) in Chatsworth on Friday.

Rockmart had two rushing touchdowns from Nate Davis, a receiving touchdown from Aadarian Samples and additional rushing touchdowns from Tyree McCrary, Tristan Anderson, Cortez Wright, Maxin Ware, Jamari Samples and Brayden Davis.

Senior Yellowjackets quarterback Luke Parker finished 6-for-8 with 153 passing yards. Junior quarterback Hagen Sharp was 1-for-5 with 23 passing yards.

Murray County travels to Fort Oglethorpe this Friday to battle Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe in the last game of the season at 7:30 p.m.
