Graduating from Southeast Whitfield High School this May, two-sport standout Sandybel Ramos will continue to showcase her athletic abilities in Dalton.

Ramos, a member of the Raiders’ cross country and track teams, signed to become a Lady Roadrunner for Dalton State College’s cross country and track and field programs during a party at the high school.

Carrie Bishop heads both programs for the college. Also a Southeast Whitfield graduate, Bishop is a former teacher and coach at the high school.

“I am very excited to have Sandybel joining us next year,” Bishop said. “It’s always good to find a local talent that wants to stay close to home to continue their running career. Sandybel has a ton of potential and I can’t wait to see what she does as a Roadrunner.”

Ramos received several awards in high school, including the Lady Raider Track Award and Long Distance Award for the spring of 2024, the Long Distance Award for the spring of 2023 and the Most Improved Award for the spring of 2022. She was a track state qualifier for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Ramos had two second place finishes, including in the 11th annual Southeast Whitfield High School Invitational on March 2.
