Bouncing back from a blowout loss to Ridgeland, Northwest put up 49 first-half points and crusied to a 49-7 win over LaFayette.
The Bruins opened the scoring with a 4-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Luke Shiflett, his first of two. Northwest added two more scores — a 40-yard pass from Shiflett to receiver Seth Henderson and a 41-yard run by Dominique Sistrunk — and a 2-point conversion to go up 22-0 by the end of the first quarter.

Shiflett added three more touchdowns to his total in the second quarter — a 46-yard rush along with another pass to Henderson and one to receiver Sebastian Orozco. Shiflett finished with 193 yards on 13-of-19 passing with 106 yards rushing and five total touchdowns.
The Bruins final score came with 28 seconds left in the half. Strong Safety Trey Ramsey scooped up a fumble and returned it 10 yards to put Northwest up 49-0 at the half.
The Bruins, who racked up 495 yards of total offense, would not score in the second half, but allowed a touchdown to LaFayette in the third quarter.
“We challenged our guys all week after a tough loss to come out fast and set the tone early tonight against Lafayette, and we definitely did that,” Bruins coach Josh Robinson said. “The offense got off to a fast start and the defense held them to two first downs the entire first half. It was great to get our young guys some playing time in the second half and reward them for their hard work in practice each week.”
