Dalton State soccer: Women double up Bryan, men open season with win

After inclement weather forced a no-contest in the would-be season opener for the Dalton State women’s soccer team on Saturday, the Lady Roadrunners doubled up Bryan College 6-3 Tuesday afternoon.
Dalton State scored the first three goals of the game, including holding a 2-0 lead at halftime. DSC totaled four goals in the second half to fend off three by Bryan.

Ana Silva put in a pair of goals for the Lady Roadrunners. Guadalupe Martinez, Riley Bennett, Hailey Ingram and Delaney Owen also scored goals. Ria Cox tallied two assists for the day, while Bennett, Lauren Wright and Ava Vandoren each had one.
Dalton State led Bryan 27-5 in shots and 18-4 in shots on goal. Owen led the way for the Lady Roadrunners with eight shots, including five on goal.
Brooke Alvarez tallied a save for the Lady Roadrunners.
Dalton State plays at Sewanee in Tennessee Friday at 6 p.m.
Early goal leads Dalton State men over Reinhardt
The Dalton State College men’s team was able to complete its portion of the scheduled season-opening doubleheader on Saturday after the storms that forced the early end of the women’s game moved out of the area, knocking off Reinhardt 1-0.

A goal just 4:33 into the game by Leonardo Seixas was all the scoring DSC needed.
The Roadrunners tallied 18 shots (nine on goal) while just allowing four looks at the goal from Reinhardt.
Roadrunner Antonio Bittencourt led Dalton State with four total shots and three on goal.
Seixas’ goal was unnassisted.
Nicolas Leite got the clean sheet in goal, saving the lone three shots on goal by Reinhardt in the game.
Dalton State plays Thursday in the Dalton Classic. The Roadrunners host Brescia Thursday at 7:30 p.m, then play Columbia International in the event, which is played at Dalton Stadium, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
