High school softball roundup: Christian Heritage halts skid with 18-0 win

Christian Heritage 18, Coosa 0

Christian Heritage (5-9) decisively ended a five-game skid with an 18-0 dismantling of Coosa (0-12) Thursday.

After three runs in the first inning, the Lady Lions piled up 11 in the second. After four more runs in the third, the game was called.

Charlize Brown and Reece Bailey both homered for Christian Heritage. Kate Mireles was 4-for-4 and had a triple and two doubles. Kaymin Arrants tripled and doubled, and Ariana Battle had a pair of doubles. Ava Parkinson finished 3-for-3 at the plate and pitched three shutout innings, striking out four.

Christian Heritage is set to play Pepperell on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.

Northwest Whitfield 7, Gilmer 2

Northwest Whitfield (6-13) earned its second straight win over Gilmer (4-17) this week, downing Gilmer 7-2 Wednesday.

Jolie Albertson homered and doubled twice to lead the Lady Bruins, totaling three RBIs. Megan Bailey pitched all seven innings, allowing just four hits and striking out three.

Northwest next plays in a weekend tournament.

Cass 16, Dalton 0

Dalton (4-12) was outpaced 16-0 by Cass (11-7) on Wednesday.

Cass started strong with seven runs in the first inning and never let up. The game ended after four.

Dalton managed two hits, with Nayeli Olvera and Halo Thomas singling.

Dalton plays Cartersville on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Sonoraville 10, Coahulla Creek 4

Coahulla Creek (11-4) had a three-game win streak snapped with a 10-4 loss to Sonoraville (15-5) Thursday night.

Coahulla Creek led 1-0 after the first inning, but Sonoraville scored six in the second to pull ahead. Creek cut it back to 6-4, but the Phoenix closed with the final four runs of the game.

Nora Milam homered for the Colts in the loss, while Bailey Warnix went 2-for-2.

Creek next takes part in a neutral-site weekend tournament.

Armuchee 15, Southeast Whitfield 8

Southeast Whitfield (1-16) fell 15-8 to Armuchee (12-8) Wednesday.

Southeast led 4-1 after two innings, but the Armuchee offense came alive afterward.

Avery Skyles and Allie Azurdia both had two RBIs for Southeast. Azurdia and Summer Maddron doubled.

Southeast plays at Cedartown on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
